A new sentence is not always a new rule. A revised page may simplify wording, move a condition or describe a different product. Two documents may differ because they serve different audiences. A document comparison should identify the difference accurately before telling readers that their account terms changed.
Establish the pair you are comparing
Record the title, source address, document type, stated date and observed date for each item. Explain why the pair is comparable. A general Corpay Prepaid homepage and a program-specific agreement may both be relevant to Fintwist research, but they do not necessarily make a valid old-versus-new pair.
If an earlier version is unavailable, say so. A search snippet or a secondary paraphrase may provide a lead, but it is not the same as inspecting the complete earlier text. Do not recreate an old version from memory and then report differences as if you had compared authoritative documents.
Classify the observed difference
Use categories such as added wording, removed wording, relocated condition, renamed label or changed numerical term. The category should describe the text rather than infer its legal effect. A relocated condition can look like a deletion if the researcher examines only one paragraph.
In an original fictional example, an asterisk moves from a headline to a nearby table note. The wording comparison shows a presentation change. Whether the applicable terms changed is a separate question that the example does not answer. Keeping those questions separate prevents an editorial comparison from becoming unsupported legal advice.
Read surrounding scope before concluding
Check whether both documents refer to the same product, audience and period. If one describes payroll and another other disbursements, the difference may be a scope difference. If one is marketing and another an agreement, their level of detail may differ for a reason. Neither observation should be silently treated as proof of inconsistency or equivalence.
Keep a short unresolved column in the comparison. It can identify missing effective dates, uncertain program applicability or an inaccessible earlier version. The column is useful because it tells the reader what further evidence would be necessary to make a stronger claim.
Report the difference at its actual level
A defensible statement says that specified wording differs between named materials as inspected on a stated date. A claim that fees, rights or account capabilities changed needs the applicable current and prior terms and appropriate context. Do not let the word ‘update’ conceal that evidentiary jump.
Respect source permissions when preserving research material. A source register and original notes may be enough; do not redistribute entire official documents merely to make the comparison convenient. The reader should leave with a clearer map of the observed difference and the remaining question, not an invented notice of account changes.
